Injuries & Accidents

Injuries & Accidents

The instructor must be informed of all injuries, medical conditions and any adjustments that may be required to ensure the member is able to train safely. Practitioners should also notify their training partners of any injuries so potential accidents can be avoided.

To train safely, members must pay attention to their surroundings and other practitioners especially when using weapons or throwing. Also to avoid injury, students should listen to the instructions given and always stay alert. The level of practice will vary in every member, so partners need to be treated respectfully. Ever member should be mindful that their partner is helping them train so mutual care and respect when applying techniques is a necessity.

If an accident or injury does occur this needs to be reported to a First Aider immediately. There are several First Aiders in the club who will be identified to you on induction. All accidents will be recorded in the Accident Book, this can be done by any of the members present.

It is the responsibility of First Aiders to ensure the First Aid Kits are in date and stocked up.

If a student is injured, it is their own responsibility to seek professional advice from a doctor to identify if they are fit enough to train fully or maybe only certain aspects. If a doctor advices a student not to train at all due to injuries, the student must not participate in any training until fully recovered.

Each member will have Public Liability Cover for any serious accidents. Full details of what is covered can be obtained via the BAA website: https://www.britishaikidoassociation.co.uk/_files/ugd/66ec45_003ba61b912d47dfb641bfdebadb4080.pdf
